Woomerah, Western Australia will see its first AFL football match live from its first-ever ground on the Gold Coast next year.
Fox Sports will televise the Bombers clash against Geelong on Thursday April 5, live on Fox Sports 505 and FOX Sports Go, and also on ABC Sport’s News 24.
Woomera’s ground, which is home to the Geelong Falcons, is set to host an AFL game for the first time.
The AFL and AFLW clubs were able to finalise the deal in May.
Fox and AFLWA chief executive David Koch welcomed the agreement, and said it meant the AFL was bringing the AFL to the state of WA.
“The AFL is a global sporting organisation and Woomers participation in the AFL means our club can continue to develop and develop our game across the state,” Mr Koch said.
“This agreement also ensures we can have AFLW games on AFL TV in 2018, 2019 and beyond.”
In addition to Woomerrans participation, the AFL will broadcast two games in the state from next year, including the finals.AFLW teams will be able to field their own teams on Friday night.AAP
