You might think that if you were a fitness trainer you’d look the part, but you wouldn’t.
You can’t just dress up in a bikini and strut around in it, especially not when you’re about to embark on a career as a fitness instructor.
But there are other ways to look like a fitness professional if you want to stay fit.
Fitness trainer Kate Gomes says her personal style is influenced by her love of her body.
“I’ve been obsessed with my body since I was very young, so I’ve always looked after my body in a way that makes it feel amazing,” she said.
Gomes is one of thousands of people who say they are inspired by the way they look.
The Australian College of Sport Medicine has launched a range of self-improvement guides, including the one Kate Goms is inspired by.
“The aim of the guides is to encourage people to look for the positive aspects of their bodies and the ones that have been proven to work,” the organisation’s director of research, Dr Peter Jones, said.
“Our aim is to create a better world, so we need to be thinking about how we can be better.”
It’s no secret that fitness is a popular hobby among young people.
There is an increase in body image and self-confidence among young women aged between 15 and 24.
It is a trend that has been linked to an increase of obesity rates among young men.
“Young people have a lot of issues with body image, so they look at how they look to help them achieve goals and also find their way in the world,” Ms Gomes said.
But how do you become a fitness coach?
Kate Gomes and her friend Lisa Tynan share their own personal tips.
Kate said she had always wanted to be a fitness therapist.
Her passion for fitness came from her time as a student and then a teacher.
She was keen to find a way to use her own body as a way of motivating her students to achieve their goals.
“It’s really important that the person you’re coaching can feel good about themselves, and that’s what I love about my job,” she explained.
“You can really tell how the person feels and how they’re feeling because they can tell you that the way you’re talking about them is affecting them and it’s impacting their life in a positive way.”
It’s a process that takes time, so it can take some getting used to.
However, if you’re serious about making the right decision about what you want from a career, you need to look at the research.
Dr Jones says it’s not about being fat.
“If you want your fitness to be healthy and active, you have to have a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
‘I’m not going to lie’If you’re going to become a personal trainer, it’s important you’re careful about what the job is.
When you’re applying to a career in health or fitness, there are a lot more things you need an assessment of than what you can wear in your bikini.
And if you are a young woman, there is a chance you’ll need to take time off to make sure your body isn’t affected.
Dr Jones recommends that you get a physical to ensure your body doesn’t become overly bulky or unhealthy.
“Most people, if they have a bikini, they don’t know they have one,” he explained.
