Calgary, Alta.
— The Canadian Forces are offering an alternative to what they call the “gig” — a free fitness class, called Mountainside Fitness.
The Mountainsideside Fitness class has a theme, says training manager, Jennifer Lebovitz, and it’s about how to get to the gym.
“I think that’s really the biggest part about the class,” she says.
“It’s about the mindset.
We talk about the gym, what are you doing?
What’s your goal?
How do you want to get there?
You don’t want to just do one thing and then go home.”
For Lebovets, Mountainsiding Fitness is about getting fit.
She says it is a “gift” for the family to have a fitness class with their kids.
“We really feel like we can bring them to their physical fitness level so they can get to their goal and have fun,” she said.
Lebovet says that is what she hopes to inspire her students to do.
“That is what I hope our students do and they can do the same thing for themselves, and not just a fitness goal but a personal goal that they have to achieve.”
She says her classes have helped in many ways for her family.
“It’s kind of like being a parent.
It’s kind the same type of thing you can do at home, too.
It brings them together.
It helps them bond with each other and make them stronger.”
The classes are open to the public on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., from March 11 to June 30.
The classes are also available online.
The classes cost $29 for an individual or $69 for a family.
