Posted September 03, 2018 05:47:03The Panthers are hoping Ryan Kesl, the star forward for the Philadelphia Flyers, will play in the NHL again.

The 23-year-old winger is still recovering from surgery on his right knee and the club wants to have him back in the lineup as soon as possible.

The club announced on Monday that Kesl will start skating on Thursday.

Kesl has been cleared to play after undergoing surgery on the same knee in October.

But the injury, which he underwent in January, limited him to just five games last season.

He has a history of knee problems and has battled the knee issue throughout his NHL career.

“Ryan is a very talented young man, and we wish him nothing but the best with this,” Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said in a statement.

The Panthers were hoping to have Kesl in the fold again this season, but Gallant did not say whether he would be on the opening night roster.

The injury could affect Kesl’s availability this season.

The Flyers have the second-worst record in the Western Conference.
